Our first Young Leaders Conversations workshop was held on Saturday 9th September 2017 at the Victory Hall, Holding Forth Christian Centre, this event was facilitated by Dr Sola Adesola, and provided this first aspiring leaders and disciples the opportunity to talk, share ideas, gather resources and prepare themselves for the many conversations they will have as they journey in their faith and life. Ten delegates participated and later joined by Elder Kunke Olanrewanju by invitation to observe the young leaders’ presentation. The beginning of the half day programme included icebreaking activities and contracting. The programme involved several small group and open conversations on church case study, leadership walkabout, leadership insights, deeper discussions, issues talk time, ways of engaging church and visibility. Sope Lloyd-Kuyimu and Ifey Okolidoh – provided us with a role play Leadership Insight to the group to discuss the importance of listening skills, eye contact and other leadership nuggets. The programme ended with a deep reflection on what to stop, start and continue doing.
It was a privilege to inspire the young adults into their own leadership journey, to help them understand the importance of resilience, developing confidence and having a sense of purpose in setting and striving for spiritual, personal and professional goals. I hope the conversations have provided a platform for our young adults to network, collaborate with other young adults in the church and inspire each other to begin to put their leadership potentials into action and become visible in faith and life.
On behalf of the Young Adults, we are greatly appreciative of our Senior Pastor, Rev. ‘Biyi Ajala for his support for this programme to take place, as we look forward to what the future holds for Holding Forth Young Adults. It’s also worthy to thank Festus Olubayo for supporting the facilitator, and other people whom I initially had impromptu conversations with – Folu Ogunyeye, Mikun Vaughan and Joshua Ilunga. Bless you all.
